I first met Dr. Buka at my company, a large financial institution on Wall Street.  He comes to the company twice a year to perform FREE Skin Cancer Screening.  I had not been to my dermatologist in three years, and this gave me an opportunity to do so in the office. At first glance of my arms he noticed a spot on my left arm immediately.  I had noticed earlier in the year, but just thought it was one of my freckles.  I did notice it was getting darker, but paid no attention to it.  After a short exam, he scheduled an appointment for me immediately. On my first appointment at the South Street Seaport office, I was helped immediately at the front desk.  I was brought into one of Dr. Buka’s offices where he introduced the two nurses and a very professional PA, who would be in the exam room.  During the first procedure, they explained everything that was going to be done to me before they did it which made me feel very comfortable.  They took a biopsy and I was on my way.  A few days later, the office called to advise me that they found something in the biopsies and would like to schedule another appointment.  I was seen within the week.  As it turned out, Dr. Buka was absolutely correct.  My “freckle” turned out to be a form of skin cancer and which he spotted it immediately at my free screening I believe he has saved me a lot of heartache in the future.

I have been back to see Dr. Buka twice since to remove other small items.  During each time, the office would always check on me after of few days of procedures to see how I was feeling and if anything hurt.  The office staff has always been very professional and polite.

But the most thing that impressed me about Dr. Buka, was the way he explained everything about a procedure was going to do, what the follow up would be and what to expect, before anything was done.  Every question I asked either of Dr. Buka or his PA, they always had an answer for me and made me feel very comfortable.

I came to Dr. B by way of yelp and was not let down. Thank you trustee Yelpites. Heres the break down:
-Dr B. takes my not so great insurance
-Was able to book appt online
-Didn’t have to wait 3 weeks for said appt
-Waited 5 minutes in waiting room
-Clean and beautiful office
-Attentive knowledgeable Doctor
-Quick and accurate diagnosis
-Treatment plans and follow up care provided.

If you need a derm, I would highly recommend seeing Dr. B even if he is out of your way, but I hear he is opening up on the UWS!

My primary care physician at One Medical referred me to Dr. Bobby Buka. I was pleasantly surprised that the I was able to schedule the appointment online and that they provided all the forms that needed to be filled out on the website. The only annoying thing was that I couldn’t fill out the forms on my PC. Also, a lot of the questions on the forms seemed redundant. I mentioned this to Dr. Buka during my first visit. Two weeks later, when I saw him for a follow up, he told me that they had changed the forms on the site and that patients can now fill in their information on the PC.

Apart from the excellent customer service, Dr. Buka is an outstanding dermatologist. Despite his tight schedule he listens carefully to his patients, spends ample time with them, and always seems calm and relaxed. His diagnose and recommended treatment has helped me a lot and I’m glad that I found a competent dermatologist in New York.
