Baokim Bonelli brings a background in medical technology to her work as a certified physician’s assistant at Bobby Buka MD. Originally from Connecticut, she earned a master’s degree in physician assistant studies in 2013 from Stony Brook University. Previously, she received her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Connecticut and was awarded the Leadership Scholarship for demonstrating high test scores, personal leadership, and achievements in the school and community.
In addition to her education, Bonelli brings a unique perspective from her time as a medical technologist when she worked for five years in a commercial laboratory. Through this hands-on lab time, she obtained direct experience in chemistry, hematology, and microbiology. At Bobby Buka MD, she enjoys the opportunity to bring patients new technologies and therapies in the field of dermatology.
Baokim Bonelli pursued her physician’s assistant education after becoming interested in dermatology, especially in the procedural aspects including surgeries and cosmetics. She specializes in the treatment of acne, the chronic skin condition which people can obtain at any age. During her clinical training, she attended to patients in both hospitals and private practices in Queens and Long Island, giving her experience with a range of patient needs and options for treatment.
Her interest in medicine comes from her personal experiences with her father, who had several complicated medical scares. Being a witness to his healthcare and the opportunities to improve a human life through treatment lead her to pursue a career in medicine in order to help people in the best way possible. Bonelli believes that the most important thing you can do as a medical provider is listen to your patients and have compassion for their individual situations. Through her personal and professional experiences, she has fostered her passion for dermatology and excelled in her career to serve patients.
Baokim Bonelli lives in Queens, where she enjoys reading and cooking in her spare time. Additionally, she is skilled in metalwork and creates unique jewelry as a hobby.
Baokim Bonelli is currently an active member of American Academy of Physician Assistants and New York Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
